Crafting

Crafternoon

Every 2 months, starting September 2026

Crafternoon is an opportunity to hang out with likeminded crafters and work on your projects, maybe get some tips, and definitely get inspired!

Bring your favourite craft supplies or a project on the go. We'll set you up at a table, and you can craft the afternoon away!

Crafternoon Guarantee: 3 hours of dedicated no distraction time, and at least one MOM will tell you how amazing you are. ;-)

Crafternoon is a low barrier way to spend some time creating for you, in a friendly and safe environment, with rad folks who also love crafting.

NEED TO KNOW

  • You must wear a mask in the crafting space.

  • Coffee, tea, cold beverages are included.

  • If you forgot supplies (or get bored with yours) we have some on hand!

  • You get an entire table all to yourself, with a folding chair; we do have a handful of plushier/more stable chairs.

  • Folks have complimented us on our pump-up playlist — filled with your fave hits from the 80s to today!

  • FREE to enter, but we appreciate donations in any value to keep this event sustainable.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

  • Any and all type of crafts and crafters; no experience required.

  • Folks who are looking for a craft community, and who value safe and accessible spaces.

  • Crafters who want to get some work done on a project while they have casual conversations.

The best part about Crafternoon is the camaraderie and meeting new people that were enthusiastic about their hobby but also interested in what I was doing.

HOSTS

Hannah has been overheard saying “Crafternoon is her favourite day of the month”, and enjoys the positive, friendly atmosphere. You’ll find her at the welcome table, and boy is she welcoming! Hannah has lived in Ritchie for 4 years, and her craft of choice is crochet.

Lisa founded Crafternoon in 2023 by accident, when she requested a rental from RCL’s hall manager who said “would you like to run this at a Ritchie event?” Lisa said YES PLEASE! and never looked back. There have been a few changes over the years, but the core values remain the same: gathering in a safer space with other crafters. Lisa has lived in Ritchie for 7 years and her craft of choice is art journaling.
